About CSN Students Alumni Employers Special Visitors Network News Web Links Diversity

One of the priorities of the Career Services Network is to stay abreast of information that may influence the perspectives and actions of students, alumni, employers, parents, administrators and others, and to share that information in a number of ways. Members of the Network contribute to a number of school, college, and University publications, and are frequently sought by members of the news media for both information and perspective. Among the types of requests fielded recently are:
  • Inquiries about the employment fortunes of new graduates, especially in difficult economic times. Annual placement reports give some insights on positions, salaries, geographic distribution of graduates, successful job search methods, and more.
  • Questions about the intentions and actual actions taken by students relative to further study.
  • Perspectives on changing workplace and employer practices that may impact new graduates.

The Center for Career Services, one of the all-university offices within the Network, oversees the conduct and compilation of graduate placement surveys. The Center publishes The Connection, a monthly newsletter that focuses on upcoming events, trends and workplace developments, unique employer and alumni activities, and notable online career resources. On its website, the Center presents Market Watch, offering links to articles from news media and research organizations on job market and workplace issues. Special attention is given to survey results and news releases from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) , whose membership of career services professionals and employer recruitment personnel make it the foremost source of career, employer, and market-related information.

Members of campus and external news media are encouraged to seek out the members of the Career Services Network for their knowledge and awareness of career-related information.
