Mission: To assist main campus and distance learning students from
all programs within the School of Information Studies to achieve internships
and/or co-op work experiences. This mission encompasses the preparation of these
students for the search and selection processes, the completion of essential
paperwork, the coordination of their supervision on-site, and the monitoring of
employers' IT needs and preferences.
Populations served: Undergraduate students in the Information Management
and Technology program; graduate students in the Information Management,
Telecommunications and Network Management, Library Science, Library Science with
School Media Focus programs, and information Management Certificate students
Services/Programs: The primary goal of this office is to connect
students with employers for internship and cooperative education opportunities
as preparation for their future careers and to fulfill their degree requirements.
Another primary goal is to assist students in the career exploration process
in an effort to strategize the job search and establish career goals. To
a lesser extent, we connect students with permanent employment situations
through our various listservs. We also coordinate employment interviews,
activities, and events with the Syracuse University Center for Career Services
at the Schine Student Center.
