The Career Services Network attempts to stay abreast of information on a myriad
of career fields and workplace developments and to make that information
available to any interested party. We realize that parents take great interest
in their students' career planning efforts and may be interested themselves
in what is happening with career fields and employers today and for the
future. Therefore we invite parents to visit the following sites:
-
Hot
Job Tracks, a wide-ranging feature from US News.
- Job Outlook 2005. A multi-part
article presenting projections for college hiring in 2004-05, as well
as suggestions for 2005 graduates. (from NACE, the National Association
of Colleges and Employers)
- Tomorrow's
Jobs from the 2004-2005 Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by
the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
-
100
Best
Companies to Work For as compiled by Fortune. Also links to other admired
companies in several categories, i.e. for women, for minorities, and others.
We encourage parents to learn about developments and opportunities in the fields of interest to their children.
Assistance may be had by connecting with the career offices in their children's home college.
Parents wishing some additional information on web sites that provide information
on specific career fields, excluding job listing sites, may also email
Helen Germain, Resource Manager in the Center for Career Services, for additional help.
